Diseases of the skin

Dr. Pierre Vereecken provides diagnosis and treatment for diseases of the skin, nails, and scalp, in children and adults. Some of these disease are common, like psoriasis and eczema, while others are less common or very rare.

Many dermatological diseases are the manifestation of a bodily dysfunction. Also, it is always advisable, as Dr. Vereecken will explain to you, to have a comprehensive approach to the disease.

 

Also a graduate in Oncology, Dr. Pierre Vereecken, an expert in Skin Oncology, ensures the prevention and detection of skin cancer and provides care for patients with precancerous and cancerous diseases such as actinic keratosis, basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, and also rarer tumors, including Merkel cell tumors or lymphoma. Doctor Vereecken contributed as an expert in the development of Belgian guidelines for skin cancer and in particular care for melanoma.

 

Of course, when the situation requires, difficult cases call for a multidisciplinary consultation. To accomplish this consultation, Dr. Pierre Vereecken may request additional external advice and get domestic and foreign experts together to define a diagnostic strategy or optimal multidisciplinary therapy.

Procedures and surgery

Dr. Pierre Vereecken performs dermatological surgery procedures, such as the destruction of skin lesions by freezing (cryotherapy), electrocoagulation using a CO2 laser, curettage ( to treat molluscum contagiosum, for example), and also exeresis of skin lesions with or without reconstruction.

Of course, all removed lesions will be analyzed (through histological or anatomopathological examination), thanks to the partnerships that Dr. Pierre Vereecken has developed with expert skin histopathology laboratories.

Technical procedures

Dr. Pierre Vereecken, follows the development of technology closely and uses the latest and most innovative technology, such as intense pulsed light, lasers (Fox diode laser for the treatment of Onychomycosis and the KTP laser, including Mixto ablative fractional) dynamic phototherapy, radio frequency, and cryolipolysis.

He practices non-surgical, aesthetic corrective procedures, such as hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin injections to correct facial wrinkles.

 

He feels that technology must be proven in scientific literature in order to provide optimal safety to the patient.
